Bob Marley







· Bob Marley’s real name is Robert Nesta Marley.
· He was born in Jamaica.
· Before he was a solo artist, he was a lead singer, songwriter, and guitarist The Wailers, a reggae band in the 60’s and 70’s.
· His father, Sinclair Marley, was a Caucasian-Jamaican of English descent.
· He left Bob when he was a little boy.
· He had thirteen children. Three with his wife Rita, two adopted from Rita’s previous relationships, and the rest from different women.
· Being of the Rastafarian faith, he believed smoking marijuana was an uplifting experience which would connect the human body to the divine.
· In 1977 he was diagnosed with cancer. He had an injury on his right toe which never healed.
· He refused to have an amputation surgery because it was against the Rastafarian faith.
· Eventually the cancer spread to his lungs, liver, stomach, and brain.
· He died when he was 36.

February 6, 1945- Robert Marley was born.

1962- recorded his first song.

1963- forms a bad, The Wailers

1966- marries Rita Anderson.

1971- forms his own record lable.

December 3, 1976- Marley and his wife were injured in an assassination attempt in Jamaica.

July 1977- Marley breaks one of the toes on his right foot in a football accident in Paris. Doctors find cancerous cells.

May 11, 1981- Dies in a US hospital.
